You might be thinking, "What's the Love of Good Food have to do with real estate?" Realtor's like to put people into homes and not every family can afford to do so without some help. One of the very special ways we help is by is supporting Habitat for Humanity. Currently, the Tallahassee Board of Realtors (TBR) is partnering with the Brinkmeyer family to fund the cost of a Habitat home. The TBR membership has been busy raising funds in many different ways.

I love good food and enjoying cooking, and have collected many recipes since the late forties as well as created my own. Many have come from family members, friends, recipe books, newspapers, magazines, and other sources. I had been planning on publishing a new collection of my recipes to give to my family and a few friends.

Then I got the idea the publication might be used as a fundraiser for our Habitat project. The generous support of the Baycrest Corporation of Tallahassee, who paid all production costs, made it possible for all proceeds from the sale of my cookbook to go to the Habitat project. The Love of Good Food, my personal collection of recipes, is being given to those who donate $25 to Habitat for Humanity.

This is not like the usual cookbook. This is a very "folksy" collection of recipes. Some are handwritten by the cooks, some cut from publications and product labels, and two are included in a letter from my mother. I was born in the South, Pahokee, Florida and many of the recipes reflect my southern orientation.

Many cookbooks have already been given to those who donated. Copies are available, but there is a limited supply. If you are interested in donating to Habitat and receiving a copy of this collection call Don Pickett 850-591-4725 or email
