PHASE II OF CLINIC IN IMMOKALEE TO OPEN AUGUST 10TH

New CHS/FSU Immokalee Pediatrics Area Opening To Patients

Collier County / Immokalee - The CHS/FSU pediatric practice at Isabel Collier Read Health Park in Immokalee has been getting another makeover with the build-out of the shell space within the clinic. Phase I, was an expansion of the rehab office, which was completed in May 2009. Phase II, the new pediatric clinic area, is scheduled to be completed and opened on August 10, 2009. The pediatric practice, now located in an older area of the building, will be relocated into the newly build space and the existing space will begin renovation to house the Women's Health Department from Marion E. Fether.

The reopening of the clinic was made possible by three separate gifts totaling $10 million which included, a $1 million endowment established by Isabel Collier Read for FSU’s medical school Immokalee program. In December 2007, the Naples Children and Education Foundation (NCEF) granted $2 million to the College of Medicine to fund renovations to the medical clinic shell area. The gifts from Read and NCEF are eligible for state matching funds, which could push the combined value of all gifts to more than $13 million. The campus is the largest donor-funded initiative in the eight-year history of FSU's medical school.

CHS Healthcare handles clinic management of the practice partnership, including patient enrollment. According to Lesa Peterson, Corporate Project Director, for CHS Healthcare, "when the build-out of shell space is opened on August 10th, and renovations are completed to the present pediatric exam area, the pediatrics and obstetrics/gynecology clinics combined will have more than 40 exam rooms". Peterson has been going over last minute details with the contractors and the construction management firm to ensure the project is on target for the August 10th opening date. There is a lot of action behind the scenes with last minute building details, moving of furniture, and equipment into the new area, but "for our patients, this move will be seamless" Peterson said.
